![]() ![]() ![]() That brings us to Josh Heald, who wrote the story for the first film and was one of the three writers on the screenplay. The movie is not Interstellar, so the writers shouldn't try and explain their time travel science to the audience in an R-rated comedy, especially when explaining it makes the writer dig himself into a hole. The actors spend five whole minutes discussing it before going off for more shenanigans. Although a stupid story might be expected when the words "hot," "tub," "time" and "machine" are the focus, it gets really annoying when the movie tries to be smart in its explanation of time travel. The story in HTTM2 somehow manages to be stupid and convoluted at the same time. If only the rest of the movie had as much fun as its actors seem to. It's nice to see Slater back on the big screen, and his memorable scenes in HTTM2 are its funniest. It seems they all get along and are friends, allowing for the witless banter between the four of them to bring enough laughs to make the movie bearable.Įven the supporting cast is well chosen and memorable, especially Christian Slater as an over-the-top game show host in 2025. Duke, Corddry, Robinson and Scott all play off one another very well. The biggest positive of Hot Tub Time Machine 2, or HTTM2, is the chemistry of its stars. Tracking down Lou's killer, the trio encounters a new friend (Adam Scott) and various adventures in the not-too-distant future. When Jacob was 12 Lou tried to bite him. After using the time machine to re-create their lives, Lou (Rob Corddry), Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) have to time-travel once again after Lou is viciously murdered. The fact that Lou didn't care about the possibly about Jacob not being born is ironic when it is revealed that Lou is his father. However, while recklessly skiing down the mountain, they find more people there and are confronted by two members of the ski patrol Blaine and Chaz, for the trouble they caused. In the morning when they wake up, they decide to go skiing. Then they all spend the rest of the night doing some heavy drinking. Adam, Lou, and Nick head into it, but Jacob reluctant at first, but the three convince him. During the night while they failing to have fun, they discover the hot tub outside their hotel room, which was broken they first, is now working. At the ski resort they brought to the hotel room where Adam, Lou, and Nick, spend their weekends at when they were young and their luggage is brought by Phil, and a bellhop who has worked at the resort since Adam, Lou, and Nick were teenagers and who is now embittered at the lost of one his arms. Upon arriving at Kodiak Valley, they all that the town has is not the same, as it has fallen on hard times. Along the way to the town Lou shows Jacob, Adam, and Nick a illegal Russian energy drink known as "Chernobly". ![]() Jacob joined his uncle and his friends, Lou Dorchen and Nick Webber, to trip to Kodiak Valley, much to the dismay of Lou who disliked Jacob. Adam tired to convince his nephew to get a job or a girlfriend, but to no avail. Jacob, who was addicted to video games, spend his time playing Second Life.
